 Eagan is one of the south eastern suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It is located about 20 minutes southeast of the metro area. It is also one of the suburbs people are referring to as “South of the River”, meaning south of the Minnesota River. There are many different choices of real estate in Eagan. It has Single Family Homes, Condominiums and Town Homes. You can still find some new construction and land available by several area builders who would love to build a custom home for you. Eagan is quickly becoming an inner ring suburb. This is a great location to commute to the Downtown areas of both Minneapolis and St. Paul. The school district is Apple Valley/Eagan/Rosemount Independent School District 196. It has three high schools, six middle schools and eighteen elementary schools. They offer a variety of special need classes, sports and music programs. The reason it is larger than most is because it shares a border with the neighboring suburb of Apple Valley. According to the last census there were 66,405 people living here. The median household income is $67,388 and 95% of its adult residents hold high school diplomas. Eagan has over 50 parks and recreation areas that cover 1,350 acres. There are 118 miles of walking trails and bike trails. Most of the parks have picnic areas and play structures. There are 79 softball diamond, 31 soccer fields and 22 outdoor skating rinks. Eagan is located 15 minutes from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. Only 10 minutes from the world famous Mall of America. There are two downhill ski areas near by, Buck Hill which is located in Burnsville and Welch Village which is a much larger ski area and that is about a 60 minute drive. There are many golf courses to choose from in all price ranges from public to private. There are many shops including several different grocery stores like Cub Foods, Rainbow Foods, and Wal-Mart.
